1910-There were many issues happening in the 1910 ;including the escalation of immigration and poverty, labor and monopoly battles, work safety and child. American population grew 40% in the guilde age. During the gilded age technology advanced, population expand, transportation improved, and new businesses made New York a place for economical pursuits. People rushed to the city to find jobs to support their famlies which exanded the middle class. The city under new laws and regulations made it safer and better working conditions for the workers.

1920-The 1920s were also know as the roaring twenties. It was a spike in culture in everyway. Jazz was a famous form of art coming out of this age. New York was one of the centers for Jazz. In New York authors also started to sprout up during this time. The 20's and 30's many of the best new journalist came out of New York. Prohibition happened in the roaring, but that did not stop people from drinking. The 20's was record to be the age were people drank more per person than any other time. This was due to the circulation of money, and the ecomony doing well. The alcohol was sold by speakeasies during prohabition, and they were owned by gansters. The ganster started up due to rasism in New York. Immagrates were treated like second class citizens before this time, and the were forced to live together in groups. The gangs started because a group of people joined together to end their suffering like the Irish. Gangs like the Five Points Gang started and the mob life was born. Al Capone came out New York moving up the gang life till he moved to Chicago. Also a new fashion came from the roaring 20s were flappers. This were woman that dresseed more elagant, but a little less clothing than usual. The skirts became higher than in the previos years.
1930-Movies, parlor games and board games were popular due to the depression. People wanted to make there lives happy even though there was a depression. Families gathered around radios to listen to the Yankees.

Between 1929 and 1932 the income of the average American family was reduced from $2,300 to $1,500, which was about a 40% decrease in pay. This decade brought with it shanty towns called Hoovervilles. These were named after the president that thought the economy would stablize itself. The poor that lived in these towns could barely get by, and may of went days with out food. New companies startred to start through out America, but unfortunately monopoly laws were no in place. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Co. was founded in 1970 and was a prime examples of a monopoly.
